Clean Agent Suppression System

Any kind of electrically non-conductive, volatile, or gaseous fire extinguishing agent that evaporates without leaving a trace is referred to as a clean agent. When a fire is detected, clean agent fire suppression systems release an inert gas or chemical that was previously stored in a container. A clean agent fire suppression system is very successful in putting out Class A, B, and C fires by suppressing fires at their beginning before they have a chance to spread.

When the system is activated, the clean agent is released as a gas to put out the fire. All clean agents are stored as either a gas or a liquid. When released, the clean agent eliminates or obstructs one of the three components that a fire needs to survive: heat, oxygen, or a fuel supply. Labs and medical facilities containing equipment are two examples of places that frequently use clean agent fire suppression systems, areas where vital building infrastructure is housed and storage spaces for flammable liquids.

Types of Clean Agent

The most popular kinds of clean agent systems use inert gases, which are composed of gases like nitrogen, argon, and carbon dioxide, or chemical agents like FM-200 and Novec 1230. When the system is activated, the clean agent is released as a gas to put out the fire. All clean agents are stored as either a gas or a liquid. When released, the clean agent eliminates or obstructs one of the three components that a fire needs to survive: heat, oxygen, or a fuel supply. In about 10 seconds or fewer, the majority of clean agent fire suppression systems achieve extinguishing concentration levels, making them highly effective at putting out a fire before it can cause much damage. There is no downtime because clean agents instantly evaporate and no clean-up is necessary.

Novec 1230 and FM-200 will be more affordable in terms of clean agent fire suppression system expenses than other gaseous systems since they utilise less agent to put out the fire, necessitating fewer storage cylinders. When compared to FM-200, Novec 1230 is the somewhat more expensive chemical agent.
