This is because the powder can be easily inhaled but the residue is very difficult to clean up after. This extinguisher can also be used on some electrical fires. Its label colour is blue.

ABC fire extinguisher cannot be used for fires involving cooking oil, fires involving electrical equipment over 1000 volt or in enclosed spaces. ABC fire extinguisher smothers fires by forming a barrier between the fuel and the source of oxygen. The fire extinguisher label colour is blue and it should be placed near to the source of the fire risk.
